Wanna be happier? Have a healthy lifestyle!

“I will start tomorrow.” “It’s the middle of the week, so I’ll begin to be healthy and lose weight next week’’. 80% of people, who have been struggling to lose weight or to build up a healthy lifestyle are familiar with these situations. We know what a struggle it can be when you try to lose weight and never quite get where you want to be. One study by Bodybuilding.com found that almost 75% of people who set fitness goals, abandon them. It’s hard to find the time, and it’s difficult to follow a new regimen. But in this blog I want to talk about my personal difficulties with losing weight, nutrition and even health issues I faced from paying less attention to my well-being.

STARTING FROM THE SCRATCH

Change is not easy. Our bodies are programmed to continuously seek homeostasis. That means that it’s often easier for us to continue to do what we’re doing even if it’s unhealthy or makes us feel worse. But at one point I realized that I was unhappy about myself and especially with my body. We’re judgmental species and I used to complain about myself a lot. My self-esteem lacked, I told myself that I won’t be enough no matter how hard I try to change everything, which led me to eat more out of frustration. I used to compare myself with others. People, who were skinnier, healthier and prettier than me. And I struggled with my health as I noticed that my endurance was weaker, my blood pressure used to rise more often, and I would get tired easier and faster. That was the moment I realized that I quickly need a change to become happy, confident and healthy. I turned my whole lifestyle upside down. I changed my nutrition extremely, started to work out at least four times a week and most importantly respected myself and became more confident in my skin. I achieved within a month amazing results, which motivated me to proceed.

HEALTH ISSUES AND “CLEAN” FOOD

And this especially made me overcome my stress, anxiety and depression at the same time, as it is stated by Harvard Medical School that what you eat affects how you feel. It’s just like an expensive car, your brain can be damaged if you ingest anything other than premium fuel. This leads from unsatisfaction about oneself to serious mental illness. What does this mean for you? Start paying attention to how eating different foods makes you feel — not just in the moment, but the next day. So, try eating a “clean” diet for two to three weeks — that means cutting out all processed foods and sugar.

CLEAN FOOD IS:

  • Organic grass-fed meats
  • Sustainably caught seafood
  • Organic eggs
  • Vegetables and fruits
  • Nuts and seeds
  • Fermented foods (sauerkraut, kimchi, coconut water, kombucha)
  • Healthy fats like olive, coconut and avocado oil
  • Raw honey and pure maple syrup

There’s a saying that states “You’re what you eat”. Complaining and empty promises won’t bring results. It’s all up to you. You are the one who’s holding you back from your happiness.
